Common questions on UK accountant take-home pay
In London a freshly ACA or ACCA qualified accountant normally sits between £45,000 and £55,000 gross in 2026/27. Take £50,000 and the money reaching the account is roughly £37,900 a year, or £3,158 a month, once £8,432 of income tax at the basic rate and £3,768 of National Insurance have gone.
On return alone, few British qualifications pay back as reliably. The training runs three to four years and costs £6,000 to £15,000, which an employer often covers. Newly qualified pay of £42,000 to £55,000 moves to £60,000 to £80,000 at manager level inside five to seven years. The ACA in particular tracks consistently high salaries whether you end up in finance, consulting or industry.
